Bio

Craig has a diverse background with over 40 years of experience that includes work within private and public-sector organizations. On the private-sector side, he has founded three businesses, worked for an employee-owned company, been a partner at a consulting firm, and worked as part of a Fortune 200. He has held roles in companies in manufacturing, distribution, insurance and investments.

He is currently president of the Wood County Board of Commissioners, previously serving as vice-president since 2015.  Prior to being appointed as Commissioner, he served as a Perrysburg Township Trustee, where for 12 years he was part of a 3-member team, guiding operation of the township with the largest budget and population in Wood County and serving for 8 years as either board President or Vice-President.

As a Trustee, Craig helped negotiate a landmark revenue-sharing agreement with the City of Toledo for the Fed-Ex relocation to Ampoint, an $80 million investment that brought 600 jobs to Perrysburg Township, and a revenue-sharing agreement with the City of Perrysburg for the O-I Headquarters relocation to Levis Park, bringing 340 jobs to the Perrysburg area.

He has an MBA from Heidelberg University and is a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society and the Tau Pi Phi Business Honor Society.  Craig is a part-time instructor and member of the Computer Science Advisory Committee at Owens Community College, and a part-time instructor and member of the Information Systems Advisory Council at the University of Toledo, College of Business and Innovation.

Craig holds an Ohio Real Estate license, Ohio Life and Health Insurance license, and a Microsoft MCITP-SA certification. He was the 2011 recipient of the Rossford High School Alumni Award of Distinction.

He is a former volunteer firefighter and EMT and is a graduate of the Perrysburg Township, Perrysburg City and Wood County Sheriff’s Citizen’s Police Academies, and is the only Perrysburg Township Trustee to volunteer to be tazed.

Craig is a graduate of the Ohio Township Association Leadership Academy and was a member of the Executive Committee for CLOUT (Coalition of Large Ohio Urban Townships). He was appointed by the president of the Ohio Senate to the Commission on Health Care Education and Physician Retention in Northwest Ohio.

Craig is vice-president of the County Risk Sharing Authority (CORSA) Board of Directors, a state-wide risk insurance affiliate of the County Commissioners’ Association of Ohio (CCAO) that insures over $17 billion in property and manages $100 million in member equity.

He is a member of the Perrysburg Masonic Lodge, the Zenobia Shriners, the Rossford Business Association, is a volunteer Assistant Emergency Coordinator for the Wood County ARES and a member of the Emergency Management Agency’s Local Emergency Planning Committee.

He is a member of Perrysburg Rotary, past board member of the Wood County American Red Cross, and past president of the Perrysburg Chapter of Business Network International.

Craig has served as a classroom volunteer for Ohio Reads, Big Brothers and Sisters, and Junior Achievement, and as a coach for youth baseball and soccer.

He has been a guest on Conklin and Company and 13ABC’s Roundtable with Jeff Smith.

Craig and his wife Nancy live in Perrysburg Township, are members of Zoar Lutheran Church, and have three adult children and five grandchildren.
